Victoria Eaton Website

Recently I have been redesigning Victoria's website. Victoria is in her final year of University and recently has been concentrating on combining Ceramics and Photography.
The original website that I had developed for her consisted on just her photography work, whereas the latest website will show ceramics creations also.

The index page (like before) will display just four images of Victoria's work. The images will rotate using JQuery. Now that there is more to include on the website we have decided to introduce two interim pages for the photography and ceramics. The Ceramics has been split into work from:

  •   2010 - 2011
  • 2011 - 2012
The Photography has not altered. The categories are:
  • Goose Club
  • Rainbow Nation
  • Cosmos
  • Daily Grind
  • Personal
  • Kinship
  • Observation
  • Possessions
This is an example of how the photography interim page and the ceramics 2011-2012 pages will look:

Additionally there will be a third section to the website which is going to include recent pages from Victoria's sketchbook.  These pages have just been scanned in to show people some of Victoria's work in progress. There is a link to her Tumblr site for people to view more if they wish.

Images for Christmas Cooking

After looking through all the recipies I decided that there was not much room on each page for pictures of christmas animations. I have come to the conclusion that I will decorate each page with a green or red bow - at the top and/or bottom. On the pages that have shorter recipies will include these small drawings I developed in Illustrator. The front page will have drawings similar to this also.

Christmas Booklets

I have been asked to design some Christmas cookery booklets for a cooking school. The cookery booklets need to be for children aged 8-12

These are some christmas cookery books that i have researched for some ideas:

The booklet needs to be 12-16 pages double sided. The logo needs to feature but not dominate. This is a copy of the Logo:

Strategy Coaching

I am working on a website for a company called strategy coaching.
There will be a landing page where the user chooses between the companies on offer:
Real time leadership
Corporate athlete
Real time coaching
Student leadership
Performance management

There will be a navigation bar along every page for the user to get back to the landing page, contact or find out more at any stage of the website.

Artefact 6

After answering my research question in artefact 4 and then backing it up with statistics in artefact 5, for artefact 6 i have decided to look into how the company can keep the user once they are 'though the door'.

In this artefact I have come up with a few interactive solutions to keep the company current. If the website that a car company is promoting is dated then people will see that as a reflection on how the car is built. This Artefact has helped to clarify the answer to my research question in preparation for the PRP presentation.

SPP Images

I decided to change one of the 5 Images for the SPP module for the catalogue to one with a selection of my designs on. The reason for this was i thought the Homemade website was by far the weakest and thought it would be best to include an image that sums up my work as whole.

Artefact 5

For artefact 5, I have decided to look at the sale angle of of my arguement. From artefact 4 i found the responses to the car interactive experience most interesting as surprisingly people said that they felt they would be more likely to go through with buying online after this particular experience than something like a fridge magnet or key ring. This is because people in my focus group said that they felt they wouldn't be bothered to go through the whole process of designing something online in such detail for just a key ring, If it was a car however they would be keen to show it off and personalise it so only they had the design.

For Artefact 5, I have conducted a skype interview with the senior account manager of Lexus. Lexus have just launched an online configurator which allows users to change the colour/interior etc of the car they are interested in buying. In my interview i wanted to find out in what sort of way lexus steer their customers into experiencing the configurator.
  • They do above the line advertising- they will include the url to the main lexus site on all tv and magazine adverts then once the user in on the website they signpost the user to the configurator hoping to drive users towards it.
  • When they launched the configurator they sent out emails directly to existing customers that linked directly to the configurator.

I also found from my interview that they have just launched an iPad app available to dealers in car garages. This iPad app works in the same way as the online configurator. The dealers get to choose when to show the ipad app to the customer in relation to the sale. The idea is for the customer to test drive the car and once they have made the decision to purchase it, the dealership can offer the customer choices of the car in all specifications.
