The Tale Of Desperaux - Storybook Adventure

Today I looked at another website from the fwa, this was The tale of desperaux, a storybook adventure. This was an interactive website where you get to make up a story, you choose weather to make it about yourself or a friend. I did mine on myself so you had to pick a name, age, make the character look like you and choose where they are from. Once you have given in all the information needed you get to watch a story about yourself.

You also get given the option to play games throughout the story, for example, at one stage I had to make "the vegetable man" have a real face by using vegetables for his eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Another game was finding my way through a maze successfully without being caught by flying creatures. You cant
move onto the next stage of the story without completing the task, which i think keeps people interested in what is happening.

Moodboard for my Identity

This is just one of my simple moodboards that i put together, i focused mainly on yellow as i always think of yellow as a happy colour, which i think reflects me quite well. All the objects in this moodboard somehow reflect me as a person. This board doesn't really link to my avatar but it is just a start to help me begin thinking about myself as a person, perhaps some of the factors that i will include in my logo design.....

The Ford 2010 Fusion

One of the websites that caught my eye today was the ford 2010 fusion. When reading the little explanation of the website, i noticed that the company that designed the website was Wunderman, Detroit. This interested me because in the summer I did some work experience with this company (in London) and worked on the website and Digital marketing for the Ford Kruger that came out in November 2008.

The website for the new ford fusion gave you all the information that you would need to know about the new 2010 ford fusion in a "full screen gallery experience". The tag line for this car is "One Car. Three Personalities". I think this is a really affective line as it makes you want to click on each of the three different cars to find out what you can do.

Research...

I began looking at some artists work as we have to design an interactive box/showcase. One of the artists that i began looking at after Roma gave us a lecture before Christmas was Joseph Cornell, the american artist and sculptor.

Joseph Cornell's most characteristic art works wer
e boxed assemblages created from found objects. Simple boxes, usually glass fronted, which he arranged surprising collections of photographs of victorian bric-a-brac. Joseph Cornell are interactive and are meant to be handled. Many of Joseph Cornell's work involved colourful images of various birds set against white harsh backgrounds.
I also had a look at Joseph Cornell's interactive page called "Navigating The Imagination" at

Self Identity...

The task we have beens set, to research the concept of self identity and what it means to me...

I think that self identity is something that makes you unique from everyone else, i would describe it as something that is shown through people's personalities, hobbies, interests, skills and appearance. All of these concepts together make up someone's self identity, it would not be possible for one factor to explain self identity because others would have the same. The likelihood of having exactly the same interests, appearance, hobbies etc as someone else, however, would not happen. I think that self identity can be found by yourself, but for a true reflection on your self identity using other people's views on your identity would be extremely useful.  Your self identity is obviously going to alter throughout your life as you would never have the same interests that you do at the age of 3 as at the age of 70, i think that possibly looking at things that used to interest me and achievements should be interpreted into my work because it makes you who you are.

More Second Life...

Ok so today when i went on, i got some invite to join a random in "Cupidus" so I accepted the offer to try and see what else there is to second life, but Im not really sure what i got myself into. There are just random clouds everywhere and noone has a body. It's like a few of us have been trapped there because everyone was just asking what are we doing here?and who is this chap thats summoned us?

I got talking to some french person who has asked me to be their friend so i accepted but that was a bit rubbish as, with me knowing about 3 words in french we couldn't really talk about much. however then some other people started to join in our short conversation and talk english and things got a bit easier. ... After a while i was starting to t
ry and figure out how to get out of this cupidus place with floating heads but then i got another invite to join someone in "Hanguel", so i went along but again everyone was talking in foreign - this time in spanish, lucky for me almost straight away i got another invite "Long Beach" this sounded a lot more like i could have some english conversations and a bit more fun. which i did i met a nice "glitter girl" who seems to be some sort of pro on second life and told me how to do quite a lot of stuff.

Images from Coke Zero

Coke Zero Dance Game

After my meeting on thursday discussing my blog i was told about a website that has all favorite website awards on (fwa). I have just visited the Coke Zero new website, it was an interactive website, you had to pick to be a tongue or an eyeball with legs.... strange.  The game was to have a dance off, by clicking at the right times to get the tongue or eyeball to dance with the music. I managed to win my game and got 28,356 points - but that was poor apparently...

The website for the coke zero dance game was; www.icoke.ca/dancehero

Second Life update..

So today i decided to have another go at my second life.. I think I'm getting the hang of what's going on but it still frustrates me. I am shocking at trying to control Woo, she looks drunk when i try to make her walk places because i have to keep going backwards and walking into stuff.

I've been speaking to a few people but still they all seem to be completly new to second life too,  which is a bit annoying but i plan to try and venture out a little more. trying to figure out how to get to other lands, its all still very confusing.

Second Life..

This was me trying to change some of the features of WOO, i was desperate to change her clothes!!! I'm not really sure what look i was going for with her because she doesn't look like me at all...

My second life character is called Woo Greybeard... these are a few of the screenshots i first took when i was still getting the hang of second life. When i loaded the second life programme after creating my account, i found it a little overwhelming as there is so much you can do and i didn't know where to start...a few of the people that i tried talking to were also saying to me they didn't understand the programme either and that this was their first time..
